What does it take to stay in the Premiership?

I have started to wonder what it is that a promoted team needs to do to stay in the Premiership.

With hindsite our last venture into the Premiership failed because near the end of the season we had certain players looking more to their own future aaway from Carrow Road than to the future of NCFC. We did not have enough belief to attack and take the game to the other teams. This was even more noticable when playing away. We tried to buy experience but forgot the need for players to be hungry for success. We allowed respect for other teams and their managers to become awe.

Do the likes of Stoke City and Blackpool have a lesson for those who are promoted this year

certainly not blackpool, they are too attacking and not defensive enough at all, they have been very lucky at times and will be very close to relegation near the end i think

we were a bit too naive last time in 04/05, we kept our loyalty to players like fleming (who as much of a legends as he was) was not gd enough at the highest level at 33 years of age

i think there are a few different approaches (look how direct stoke are) but the best one for us if we go up is to strengthen the defence and get a really gd striker in as well, we shud try to play to win games like lamberts does this season but also know our limits, because a point at stoke for instance would be gd (lucky blackpool got all 3 there as well!)

As Paul Lambert has publicly stated, we`ll worry about that if we get there

What Paul Lambert says in public and does in private is not always the same. I’m happy for it to be like that.

NTRA of course your right in what you say.

I`ll be like PL and not speculate in public because the way I see things there are possibly 8 teams competing for 3 positions. 2 of these teams aren`t going to make the play offs. We could be one of these 2 teams and we could also be one of the 2 that goes up automatically.

It really is so tight and I am expecting it all to go down to the last game of the season.

Players who are willing to give you 110% week in week out, lots and lots of luck with injuries and suspensions. Look at Blackpool at Wolves last week, no Charlie Adam = a 4-0 defeat and only 1 shot……which was off target.

You definitely need to attack especially at Old Trafford and the Emirates because you will not get a point if you sit back for 90 minutes, or 98 minutes at Old Trafford!!

We need to mix the beating the big teams (Man U) with beating the ‘smaller’ teams (Wigan, Wolves, Blackpool etc) We showed last time we were there that we can beta the big teams, but we need to perform in every game.

Well dan-ncfc, we certainly have that attitude now with PL as our manager. That is something which will not need to change.

don`t give other teams any respect and get in their faces. We have surprised a few teams in the championship with our straight at `em attitude (away matches). I also think we would do ok in the prem. We have the crowd, great manager, backroom staff and players.
