Cheers for the info JRRH, Cox would be a decent signing. Got a good scoring record, could be the ideal partner for Holty. Mind you, would be quite happy to see the Barnsley formation continue.

That means we have some excess baggage in the striker department. It means PL has messed up a bit.

OK. We know Martin is injured.
We know Oli Johnson is not good enough.
We know there is a bit of a problem McNamee/Lambert
We do not know anything about Wilbraham, including the reason why he was signed in the first place.
We do not know the Jackson situation because he has become a bit of an enigma, albeit a costly enigma.

Cody is lent out and the best we can expect from that situation is a bit of profit when he is sold.

All in all PL, our mutual messiah, has made a bit of a cock-up when it comes to buying strikers/forwards.

I realise the man is beyond criticism — and so he should be. However, the forwardline situation speaks for itself. Cock up and at precisely the wrong time.

I hope Cox is better than more recent acquisitions

Really hope this is true. Would like to sign him permanently if the loan materializes and he does well for us.

Dave E Lately you said “I know PL is beyond criticism, and so he should be”

and then you go on to say he`s cocked up. Is this not criticism?

Wibrahams was brought in as back up for Holt, it just so happens that with Martin injured he is being played.

People keep going on about Cody but he`s scoring for fun in league 2, whereas Jackson was scoring in league 1.

I`m sure PL has been looking for the right person to bring in but proven strikers, esecially those not currently getting games do not grow on trees.

In my eyes PL is definetely beyond any criticism, remember how far we had to fall before he pitched up

Dave E Lately, those are interesting comments and i some what back them.

1) “We know Oli Johnson is not good enough”.
Do we know he isnt good enough? When has he been given a run in the first team? We knew Jamie Cureton wasn’t good enough any more when he kept missing sitter after sitter for us, but has Oli Johnson missed sitter after sitter? Has he had poor performances? not to knowledge!

2) “I realise the man is beyond criticism — and so he should be”

I think even Lamber himself wouldn’t class himself as invincible and as much as I love the man for what he has done and is doing here at Norwich, I think he has made cock up’s like all managers!

Even the great Alex Ferguson cocked up last night, 1-0 up cruising the game and making Chelsea look ordinary, then utd let them back in, albeit a pathetic penalty decision!

Im just a little sick and tired of this “in Lambert we trust” rubbish, again, im all for the man, but he does make mistakes, and he will make a few more.

I would not want to see PL leave as much as any other NCFC supporter.

I just think that our forwards/strikers are not good enough and could cost us promotion. Relying over-much on Grant Holt is not really adequate for a side aspiring for better things.

We have some genuine “bummers” in contention at the moment so let’s hope Cox turns out to be a move in the right direction.

Please! I am not critical just realistic.

What you have to remember is PL is trying to bring someone in with little or no money…. I know you’re thinking of the ‘Foulgar’ money but Rob Edwards had to come in and if you really want quality it’s gonna take all of the 2 mill and then some.

As for costing us promotion Dave E, would you not have been happy with top half at the start of the season?…I know I would…….

Well, I would welcome any decent back-up strikers at this crucial stage. However, according to the news in the Pink’Un it isn’t going to be Cox, which is a shame in my view. With Chris Martin out, I’m just worried that we could come a cropper if Holt gets injured or even suspended. I know the midfield are scoring but we need the depth in the squad for the last couple of months.

cox would be a fantastic signing and just what we need, everyone makes mistakes at all things in life and paul lambert is no different to the rest of us

sometimes things just don’t work out and this is the case with jackson over the last 3 months, jackson can still be dangerous off the bench and we r looking very gd at the moment with or without COX! :)

I`m sure PL is trying to get someone in but it`s not easy, the Robbie Blakes of this world may say they want to stay at Bolton and fight for their place, but that says to me he`s quite happy to sit on the bench and collect his money.

I don`t know who is out there or who is willing to come to us, we`ll just have to wait and see what develops.

In the meantime I would be temted to us the same formation against Preston that we did at Barnsley

Looks like this deal is not going to happen, according to reports.
