I agree with all those comments.

I had to do a double take when watching motd last week where Warnock accused Van Persie of elbowing opponents every time he jumped for the ball! (so Joey Barton isn’t dirty in the slightest?)

It was the way he said I with his cheeky arrogant smiling face, the man makes my blood boil!

Great report for the start of the year. Super result today.

I must say Pilkington was sublime today, I was shouting out for Morison to come on 10 mins before he did as i felt his presence in the box could really cause problems.

Morison isn\’t a fearful striker for defenders in the sense that he can do amazing things individually with the ball, however, his constant threat and consistent pestering makes him a real handful, we didn\’t really put too much pressure on the back 2 in terms of running at them, Morsion changed that when he came on.

It seems that whoever is left out of the strike force from the start come son to either play out of thier skin, or even better scored a goal, it shows two things, Lambert will play the team he thinks is the best for that particular game, plus he isnt afraid to leave anybody out knowing that his players wont spit there dumies out, (unlike tarrabt or joey barton style players).

The 3rd point is that when they do come in, they feel as much a part of the team as the players that started and they still have the hunger and possibly even more so to prove a point.

Lambert is really using his head in selecting the right players to face each opposition. Sometimes you need to play with very little width, pack the midfield against teams like Tottenham, man utd etc, this way without being too defensive and only playing with one up front at home, your protecting your defence and still attacking in number when given the chance!

Alternatively sometimes you know that the opposition may be lacking defensively strong qualities on the flanks, therefore this is where you want to feed balls in to Holt and or Morison from the flanks and get at them, i.e Pilkington and Bennett etc running at the defence.

So hats off to you Paul Lambert for not playing on paper the best players week in week out, but actually technically making some cracking decisions and setting out a well thought formation.
