Michael Nelson

I am still amazed how this guy has made it a professional footballer, let alone being about to lead us out in the Championship. For me the guy is clumsy and a massive liability. He has no pace to make up for any mistakes, his distribution is shocking. I am seriously worried about him playing at the back for us. What frustrates me the most is, as soon as he looks like he could be replaced in the side, he pulls out a great performance. He gives 100% but I worry that we will get ripped to shreds at the back against good teams next season. If the aim is the playoffs, he is not a top 6 player in League 1 let alone the Championship.

100% Agree. Can not stand to watch him play, he makes me cringe and feel embarrassed for him when the ball comes anywhere near him!

If Michael Nelson is a professional footballer then it gives us all hope of making it!

I have played with many better defenders than Michael Nelson over the years and i’m talking guys that are in their mid to late thirties!

To ship out the doc and continue with Nelson is a laughable, I would imagine the Doc was confused when we released him!

I’m pro Paul Lambert, but I have to question his decision to keep Nelson!

Pretty laughable post to be honest. Anyone that went to the game yday cud again see nelson was our strongest cb. Ward done ok but was turned far too easily for sholas goal and then nelson had to put in an amazing sliding tackle to cover for wards poor pass. There’s nothing wrong with having one defender that would rather clear the ball quickly than casually play it from the back, nice to have that balance now. Nelson may struggle in the championship, but to form opinions so early is ridiculous. Then I guess we could start with zak who has struggled every time he’s played for Norwich so far including getting the run around against Stevenage.

Lord u make some valid points however its easy to back up a player that has stood out in a handful of games in a very average defense.

Norwich will score goals but will we conceed more.

Nelson is ok! Not many good CB’s out there right now and Nelson will prove to be vital. Always gets his meatball head in the way from corners.
