Challenging but Exciting times ahead!

2010

Ok..ok.. Lets keep this simple,

We are a newly promoted team, We are 4th in the table, and all of our supporters are delighted with the start to the season we have made.

What has taken my attention this week and over the last couple of weeks is people (mainly other football fans and so-called intellegent media personel)saying that we have been over achieving and the real test is yet to come.

I can’t agree with the first comment above, simply becuase The Championship is so unpredicatble, even more so this year, that there arn’t really any teams who are significantly favoured to do well, possibly Cardiff and QPR, but beyond that, Its hard to name anyone you could be extremely confident of being in the top 6 at the end of the season. With the division being so unpredictable, we all now that anyone can take points off anyone.

With that fact in mind, I don’t think we have over acheived whatsoever, I can back this up by telling you I am an optimistic Norwich Fan, but realistic in equal measure. At the start of the season, looking at the games in the early part of the season, I predicted we would take 20 points out of 39 avaliable so far, we have of course picked up 23.

Ok, so that is my first part of my blog covered about our achievements so far this season. Now I come to the point I made about comments that more challenging times are head for us, now that point I can agree with, but I’d also like to add that they are very exciting times ahead for us over the next 4-6 weeks.

I am going to look at the next 7 games, as I believe they are all against Well established sides at this level, with squads capable of finishing in the Top half, similar to ourselves infact.

So, the 7 game period in question begins tomorrow at Cardiff, and we know what they have in their locker (Bellamy), but do we really need to be scored by that, (ABSOLUTLY NOT!!!!). What I did enjoy hearing someone say this week was, with the unpredictable nature of the league, and Cardiff smashing Leeds 4-0 on Monday, Its just written in the stars that Norwich will go there at the weekend and win. I promised this guy a pint if his thoughts turn out to be ture!

Following tomorrow’s game at Cardiff, We have home clash with the clarets and a trip to The Den to take on Millwall. Moving on from those, We have a Live Saturday evening TV date at Reading, and you can bet your live that all the build up to that particular game will be about our infamous “TV Curse”.

After this, Our two most exciting days of the season on back-to-back weekend’s. Leeds and Ipswich at home, You just couldn’t get those two together in the calender if you dream’t it up :) .

The seven game period ends at Pride Park Derby on Saturday 4th December. Now if by 5pm on that day, we still find ourselves in the top 6. I think we can all have a strong claim for telling people to take us seriously, and we are strong promotion contenders this season.

I said at the start of the season we would finish 4th, and back then I thought I might of been being a tad optimistic, but Now I consider it a realistic possibility.

Have another great footballing everyone, remember to put your clocks back before bed tomorrow night, The Yellow Army will certainly need the extra hour of zzzzzzzz’s, after a long trip back across country.

Hopefully it will be an enjoyable one.
